Hydrotherapy Treadmill Services for Canine Rehabilitation

At Independence Veterinary Clinic, we are proud to offer hydrotherapy as part of our comprehensive physical therapy and rehabilitation services. Utilizing the advanced Hydro Physio underwater treadmill, this treatment provides a gentle, low-impact form of exercise that supports healing, pain relief, and overall wellness for dogs of all ages and conditions.

How It Works?

The underwater treadmill is submerged in a temperature-controlled water tank. This creates a therapeutic environment that takes advantage of four key elements:
  • Hydrostatic Pressure:Promotes circulation, reduces swelling (peripheral oedema), lowers heart rate and arterial pressure, and enhances metabolic activity and lymphatic drainage. It also stimulates the skin’s sensory receptors, helping improve mobility and reduce discomfort.
  • Surface Tension:Provides gentle resistance to help strengthen targeted muscle groups, improve balance, and support faster reaction time.
  • Buoyancy:Reduces weight-bearing stress on joints and muscles, improves core stability and flexibility, and minimizes pain during movement.
  • Water Temperature:Warm water soothes muscles, improves comfort, increases blood circulation, and contributes to overall pain relief.

Benefits of Hydrotherapy

By reducing the strain of gravity, hydrotherapy allows dogs to move more freely and comfortably. This is especially beneficial for:
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Recovery from injury or trauma
  • Managing chronic pain or arthritis
  • Improving mobility in aging pets
  • Supporting healthy weight loss
  • Enhancing gait, posture, and overall strength

A Calm and Healing Experience

The underwater treadmill provides a gentle and supportive setting for your dog to exercise and recover. The warm water eases muscle tension while the buoyant environment reduces pressure on joints. This allows your dog to move more freely and comfortably during each session.

Each step in the water promotes better movement with less pain. Your dog can focus on healing in a space that feels safe and relaxing. Our goal is to help every patient feel stronger and more comfortable with each visit.
