Regular Exams for Your Pet's Health

We recommend annual and semi-annual exams for our patients. Your pet will receive a comprehensive physical exam from nose to tail to check for any abnormalities and discuss any concerns you may have. Several areas are discussed including behavior and nutritional recommendations. Depending on the age and health of your pet they may require exams more often; we’ll tailor a plan specific to your pets needs.

The Importance of Regular Checkups for Your Pet

Even if your pet seems healthy, regular checkups are essential. At least once a year, a thorough exam can help identify underlying health issues that may not be immediately visible. Since pets often hide signs of illness, routine checkups are vital for early detection and treatment.

For kittens, puppies, senior pets, or pets with existing health conditions, more frequent visits are recommended. Younger pets need regular monitoring to ensure healthy growth and proper vaccination, while older pets and those with medical concerns require more frequent checkups to maintain their health.

At Independence Veterinary Clinic, our experienced team is dedicated to keeping your pet happy and healthy. During each routine exam, we thoroughly assess your pet’s condition from nose to tail and provide personalized care recommendations tailored to your pet’s needs.

What’s Included in a Full Physical Examination for Your Pet?

During a thorough physical exam, we assess your pet’s overall health by examining the following:
  • Heartbeat and respiratory rate
  • Teeth and gums
  • Joints and muscles
  • Abdominal region
  • Eyes, ears, and nose
  • Weight and body composition
  • Skin and coat
  • Temperature
To ensure a comprehensive evaluation, we also ask that you bring a fresh stool sample for analysis. If parasites are detected, we’ll discuss the best treatment options to keep your pet healthy.
