10 Easter Pet Dangers
Easter is such a fun, colorful and happy holiday filled with family, friends, and sunshine! There’s egg decorating, egg hunts, Easter basket searches, and lots of tasty treats and food. While you’re out and about enjoying the day with your loved ones, your furry friends will most likely be out and about in the house or tagging along with you.
With this in mind, it’s important to recognize and acknowledge all of the possible Easter dangers and toxins that may be within your pet’s reach and do your best to keep them up and away. What are some of the items/foods you should you be keeping an eye out for?
- Chocolate
- Easter basket grass
- Raw eggs
- Food coloring
- Candy containing xylitol
- Ham, lamb, and other fatty foods
- Onions and garlic
- Lilies
- Raisins and grapes
- Amaryllis
If your pet gets their paws on one of the ten things listed above, you should contact your veterinarian and seek immediate medical attention. Common symptoms of ingestion include digestive and respiratory tract irritation, vomiting, diarrhea, extreme drop in blood pressure, seizures, and in severe cases even death. Remember, all encounters with toxic plants, foods, and objects can be avoided, just make sure to remain conscious of your Easter time surroundings!
